Women of Wind Energy (WoWE) hosts an annual luncheon at the WINDPOWER conference. The luncheon is the wind industry’s premier networking event for women and this year WoWE will again be honoring two outstanding women.  Here are the details:

•    The Woman of the Year Award recognizes one woman who truly stands out for her leadership, inspiration, and significant contributions to the expansion and improvement of the wind energy industry. She may be the leader of a company or organization, or work behind-the-scenes to resolve critical wind energy issues.  Past Woman of the Year award winners include Karen Conover, DNV Global Energy Concepts (2009) Rachel Shimshak, Director of the Renewable Northwest Project (2008), Jan Hamrin, President of the Center for Resource Solutions (2007), and Jan Blittersdorf, CEO of NRG Systems, Inc. (2006).

•    The Rising Star Award was launched in 2008 to honor a woman who is relatively new to the wind energy industry but has already made a significant professional contribution. Reserved for women of all ages who are in the earlier years of their wind careers, the award recognizes unusual professional promise and demonstrated qualities of dedication, innovation, and creativity.  Past Rising Star award winners include Sarah Wright (2009), founder of Utah Clean Energy and Elizabeth (Liz) Salerno (2008), policy analyst for the American Wind Energy Association.

The nomination deadline for both of these awards is March 31, 2010.  Please help WoWE by sharing the names and stories of inspiring women you know.
