Programs & Services
To carry out our mission to promote the education, professional development and advancement of women, WoWE sponsors a variety of events and programs. Here are the high-impact activities we’re best known for.

Educational fellowships
WoWE offers grant support to women students, funding their registration and travel expenses for the annual AWEA WINDPOWER conference. These fellowships, named in memory of wind pioneer Rudd Mayer, help ensure that the best and brightest women can explore wind energy. If you are currently enrolled in a college, university, or technical certificate program and are interested in pursuing a career in the U.S. wind industry, we invite you to apply now for a Rudd Mayer Memorial Fellowship.
Mentoring, online and in person
Mentors help the next generation of industry leaders to emerge. As a WoWE mentor, you'll support one person to grow professionally while you help expand the role women play across the wind industry. As a WoWE "mentee," you'll tap into a large pool of experience and learn from established professionals in the field. Learn more and sign up today to become a WoWE mentor or mentee.
Chapters and local gatherings across North America
The local WoWE revolution started with volunteers organizing chapters in cities and regions across North America. Chapters offer networking opportunities, sponsor educational events from field trips to guest speakers, build coalitions, and provide outreach to area students from K-12 schools to institutions of higher education. Find a chapter near you, or help us launch a new one!
Recognition awards
Each year at our national luncheon, WoWE honors two outstanding women of wind - an established leader who has significantly contributed to the expansion and improvement of our industry, and a relative newcomer who has demonstrated unusual talent, dedication, innovation, and creativity. Please join us in celebrating these amazing women of wind. We also welcome your nominations of outstanding women for the 2011 Woman of the Year and 2011 Rising Star awards, to be announced at the next AWEA WINDPOWER conference.
WoWE National Luncheon
WoWE's annual luncheon is a premier networking event and highly visible showcase of women's progress and prospects in the wind industry. It is held each year during the American Wind Energy Associations (AWEA) WINDPOWER conference. Over 400 women and men attended the 2010 luncheon in Dallas, which was sponsored by leading wind energy companies. Please plan to join us at WINDPOWER 2011 in Anaheim next May for this celebration, and consider adding your support as a corporate sponsor!
