Rising Star - Honors a woman relatively new to wind energy who is already making significant professional contributions. Rising Star nominees show unusual talent, dedication, and innovation in their wind industry work.

WoWE's 2012 Rising Star Honoree:

2012 WoWE Rising Star Jennifer Jenkins.  Jennifer is currently the Executive Director of the Distributed Wind Energy Association (2010 – present) prior to that she led the Government Affairs office for Southwest Windpower (2004-09). This was her beginning in the wind energy field. She graduated with B.S. Environmental Science, Policy and Public Administration from Northern Arizona University and was part of the Flagship Leadership Program.

From the Nomination Essay for Jennifer Jenkins: "Jennifer has worked tirelessly for over 10 years building and driving the small and distributed wind industry in a variety of roles. Jennifer has excelled at every role; wearing multiple hats of policy development, advocacy, outreach, business development, executive director, and yes, even sales. Whether she would admit it or not she sells the value of wind every day as she talks to someone new to wind or motivates one of her colleagues, and she does it well. Her current role as Executive Director of DWEA is a perfect summation of her career to date and the value she brings to the industry---leading a new advocacy group, composed of disparate voices and personalities, to excel in difficult market conditions, and to do so without hesitation or fear. This is a definition of a star that is rising. There is lots more yet to come from Jennifer."
